Dan Lutz said he is running for Park Hills City Council because he wants to give back to the community where he has lived for nearly 20 years and pursue changes in areas where he disagrees with the city’s direction.
Lutz said his experiences serving in the U.S. Air Force, working as a U.S. Postal Service letter carrier and traveling with his family have exposed him to people from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Lutz faces Marty Boyer, Joe Brandner, Lee Burkett, Greg Claypole, Joe Daugherty, Steve Elkins, Pamela Spoor, Carl Trinkle and Dan Warner in the Nov. 3 general election.
“I enjoy meeting new people, learning who they are, and what they value,” Lutz said. “Throughout these interactions, I’ve learned how to look beyond the differences and find a common ground.”
Lutz said those experiences have helped him understand different perspectives, a skill he would bring to city council.
If elected, Lutz said his first priority would be listening to Park Hills residents and learning more about their concerns before determining what changes may be needed.
Lutz described himself as having a mechanical mindset and said he enjoys understanding how things work and finding solutions when problems arise.
He said he would work with other city officials to identify potential improvements and determine how his skills could contribute to solutions. When mistakes occur, Lutz said he wants the city to determine how to correct them and prevent similar problems in the future.
