Cole Cuzick is a Republican candidate for District 63 of the Kentucky House of Representatives, which encompasses northwestern portions of Kenton County and parts of Boone County (click here to see a map of the district).

He is one of two Republican candidates – the other being Seth Young – set to challenge incumbent Kim Banta in the May primary. There are no Democratic candidates in District 63, so whoever wins the May primary will run unopposed in November.

Cuzick’s first job out of college was as a staff assistant in a district office of Congressman Thomas Massie.

“I decided to run to bring conservative leadership back to this Northern Kentucky 63rd House district,” Cuzick said. “I was aware of how it was being represented, and I felt like this is a very conservative district, very religious district, and I wanted to be able to provide a different choice.”

In terms of policy, Cuzick advocated for eliminating the state income tax, ensuring there were no new abortion exceptions and for increased school choice, expressing frustration at the repeated defeats of charter school legislation in Kentucky. He also advocated for expanded trades education and the elimination of medical certificate of need laws.

While he supported economic development initiatives, he said he wanted to make sure that economic development companies were investing in diversified sectors, rather than being what he described as “pay to play,” wherein large established corporations like Corporex and other large companies reap an outsized portion of economic development initiatives.

“If we’re doing economic development, let’s make sure it’s going to–not mega, multi-million dollar corporations that can clearly do it by themselves or can have other funding sources,” Cuzick said.
