Candidate for Kenton County Property Valuation Administrator;

Party: Republican

Status: Challenger

Chris Reinersman is a candidate for the office of Kenton County Property Valuation Administrator, or PVA, which is responsible for assessing the fair market value of property in the county, among other things related to property assessments. He will challenge incumbent and fellow Republican Darlene Plummer in the May primary. There are no Democratic candidates for the PVA’s office, so whoever wins the primary will run unopposed in November.

Locally, Reinersman is best known for his tenure as mayor of Independence. He was elected to the Independence City Council in 2010, served two terms and then ran for mayor for the first time in 2014. He has sat in the mayor’s chair since then, but told LINK nky that he felt he’d reached the limit of what he could accomplish as mayor.

“This is the end of my third term as mayor,” Reinersman said. “I really had accomplished the main goals I had set out to accomplish as mayor.”

Reinersman actually works professionally in commercial real estate appraisal, currently employed at a Cincinnati-based appraisal company called Valbridge. He told LINK nky he had roughly 37 years of experience in the appraisal sector.

As far as the PVA office, Reinersman listed several things he’d like to change, namely merging the PVA’s GIS data system with the county’s, improving the PVA’s website and reforming some of the office’s valuation practices as it relates to zoning.

“I feel like there’s some room for improvement,” Reinersman said. “I’ve had some experience improving and successes in making government more efficient, more effective.”
