Carl Trinkle said he is running for Park Hills City Council because retirement has given him the opportunity to pursue a longtime interest in public service and he believes his professional experience could bring a different perspective to council.
Trinkle is retired after spending 35 years running aerospace manufacturing businesses. He said city government benefits from having leaders with different backgrounds and approaches to solving problems.
Trinkle faces Marty Boyer, Joe Brandner, Lee Burkett, Greg Claypole, Joe Daugherty, Steve Elkins, Dan Lutz, Pamela Spoor, and Dan Warner in the Nov. 3 general election.
“I love the city of Park Hills,” Trinkle said. “Being a relative newcomer, I can see how special this place is.”
Trinkle said he wants to preserve what is working well in Park Hills while improving other areas and maintaining the city’s financial position. He identified road maintenance and maintaining the city’s independent police and fire departments as priorities.
If elected, Trinkle said his first priority would be addressing Amsterdam Road.
Trinkle said he also wants to examine overall city operations by meeting with city employees and learning how individual departments operate before recommending potential improvements to the full council.
He said his experience in aerospace manufacturing required a focus on continuous improvement, which he would bring to city government.
Trinkle said his campaign is self-funded, he has no business interests in Park Hills and he would not accept compensation for serving on council.
