Bryan Roemer is one of eight candidates running for a spot on the Independence City Council, which has six seats.

Roemer is a stock plan administrator who has an MBA from Louisiana State University. He ran for a spot on the council in 2024 but lost at the ballot box. He said he’s running because he believed the city’s growth put it at a kind of turning point.

“The decisions we make during the next several years will shape our community for the next several decades,” Roemer said. “I want to help ensure that those decisions reflect the values that make Independence such a great place to live. I believe we can embrace new opportunities while preserving the character that attracted so many of us to Independence in the first place.”

Roemer said that he wanted to ensure the city’s economic development and growth was “intentional.”

“I want voters to know that my campaign isn’t going to be centered around a single issue, it’s going to be centered around a vision for Independence’s future,” said Roemer.

This included ensuring first responders were taken care of and that there were enough amenities to encourage people to stay in the city. He pointed to the city’s parks department as one avenue by which that could be accomplished: “by exploring projects like a dog park, recreational sports leagues and other amenities that bring families together and enhance our quality of life,” he said.

“I want to hear different perspectives, ask thoughtful questions and make decisions that are fiscally responsible and in the best interest of Independence,” Roemer also said.
