Sarah Thompson, who was appointed to fill Ludlow’s mayoral seat in September, filed for candidacy as the city’s mayor on Dec. 19.

Thompson formerly served as a city council member, first elected in 2024, prior to her appointment, which occurred after the former Mayor, Chris Wright, resigned in August.

“I am running for mayor in 2026 to continue serving the residents of Ludlow with dedication and accountability,” Thompson said in a written statement to LINK nky. “My focus remains on delivering strong services, responsive leadership and real results for our families and businesses.”

Thompson’s appointment marked the first time a woman has occupied the mayoral seat. One other candidate, Paul Hallinan Miller, the head of Bircus and Circus Mojo, has filed to run for the seat. Miller’s platform revolves around possibly dissolving the city, which Thompson described as “noise” that “does not represent Ludlow’s future.”

“Our city will continue providing the care, stability and essential services our residents rely on, and I look forward to continuing the work of strengthening the community we all love,” Thompson concluded in her statement.
