Brant Owens has filed to run for a seat on the Campbell County Fiscal Court.
Owens, a Democrat, is running for the District 3 seat on the court, which encompasses the county’s urban river cities of Dayton, Bellevue, and Newport, in addition to parts of Ft. Thomas and Southgate. The seat is currently held by longtime Commissioner Tom Lampe, who was elected in 2014. Lampe has filed for reelection.
In his campaign announcement press release, Owens said he would bring engaging representation to the legislative body.
“People deserve a commissioner who’s present — not just for parades, photo ops, and golf outings,” he said in the release. “Campbell County is growing, and we need leadership that plans ahead, listens, and focuses on the everyday quality-of-life issues families care about.”
Owens’ public involvement includes serving as chair of Newport’s Westside Citizens Coalition and chair of the City of Newport Tree Board, as well as outings leader and legislative chair for the Northern Kentucky Sierra Club Group. He also serves on the board of the Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky.
Owens is a graduate of Campbell County’s Citizens’ Academy, Newport’s Citizens’ Academy, and Leadership NKY’s Class of 2025. He previously served in the U.S. Army Reserves.
The filing deadline for the 2026 primary is January 30.
