Sarah Froelich, a Democrat who currently serves as a member of the Park Hills City Council, announced this week she would run for election to the Kenton County Fiscal Court next year.

Froelich, along with another Democrat candidate in a different county district, Benjamin Bach, will be the first Democrats to seek election on the fiscal court in over twenty years. Froelich is running for the seat representing county district 1.

“Kenton County thrives when leadership listens, prepares, and keeps people first,” Froelich said. “I’m running to connect local decisions to everyday life and to work collaboratively to move our county forward.”

Froelich is currently serving her fourth term on the Park Hills City Council, which has recently seen controversy due to ongoing disputes on the city’s zoning regulations.

She filed her candidacy paperwork on Wednesday and filed a statement of spending intent with the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance on Nov. 13.

Her announcement indicates she carried out her filing with members of the Kenton County Democratic Executive Committee and Northern Kentucky Labor Council.

District 1 incumbent Beth Sewell announced she would seek reelection last month. Sewell was first elected to the fiscal court in 2010.
