Kim Banta, a Republican from Fort Mitchell who currently occupies the seat for the Kentucky House of Representatives’ 63rd district, filed for reelection this week.

Banta was first elected in 2019 during a special election. District 63 includes chunks of Kenton and Boone Counties.

“I came to Frankfort to make a difference and that’s exactly what I’ve tried to do,” Banta said in an email statement. “I’ve demonstrated I’m willing to listen, study the issues and make independent decisions based on the voices, values, vision and needs of the people of KY 63.”

Banta has a background in education, having previously served as the principal of Dixie Heights High School and the director of curriculum for Kenton County Schools. She has served on several legislative committees, most notably the appropriations and revenue committee and a committee on education and workforce development. She will face Cole Cuzick, another Republican from Erlanger, during the primary.
