An individual artist and two arts organizations in Northern Kentucky have been awarded funding for their work by the Kentucky Foundation for Women.
The recipients are three out of 46 awardees throughout the commonwealth, “totaling $182,568 to Kentucky feminist artists and arts organizations committed to creating positive social change throughout the state,” according to the foundation.
“This round of Artist Enrichment grants goes to artists who are connected to their communities and deeply committed building their artistic skills and expanding their vision,” said Sharon LaRue, executive director of the Kentucky Foundation for Women, in a press release. “These artists offer new perspectives and deeper insight into the lived experience of Kentuckians and the issues that affect their lives and influence their legacy.”
The three recipients are Devan Horton, an individual artist and NKU graduate out of Bellevue, Caroline Stine and InBocca Performance out of Southgate and Pones, an arts collective that puts on various works throughout the Midwest and Northern Kentucky. Horton will receive $10,000 to create a body of work using botanical dyes and other homemade painting techniques. InBocca and Pones will both receive $5,000 to fund theatrical productions.
