A February Kentucky Symphony Orchestra concert at NKU will highlight the work of a local composer and works of famous visual artists throughout history.
Dubbed the Galerie Fantastique, the concert will invite attendees “to view the (projected) art of Van Gogh, Warhol and Hartmann accompanied by the respective live musical works of Strawn, Daugherty and Mussorgsky.”
The concert will feature the music of Andrew Strawn, a Ryle High School and CCM graduate, as well as the music of 20th century Michigan composer Michael Daugherty and 19th century composer Modest Mussorgsky.
Each performance will feature projections of the works of different visual artists from throughout history, namely Vincent Van Gogh, Andy Warhol and Viktor Hartmann.
“In addition to seeing famous art work, all of the music is effervescent, illuminating and features the orchestra in sections, accompanying solos and in full flight,” said James Cassidy, the orchestra’s music director.
The concert will take place at Graves Hall at NKU on Saturday, Feb. 7, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices vary by seating. Learn more and purchase tickets at kyso.org/event/galerie-fantastique.
