With Christmas and New Year’s approaching, shoppers in Northern Kentucky can support small businesses by frequenting local boutiques across the region.

This holiday season, LINK nky highlights five local boutiques where you can find unique gifts for your loved ones.

Coda — Covington and Bellevue

Originally opening in Bellevue in 2017, Coda, the eclectic bohemian home decor & goods shop, has since opened a sister location in Covington’s Central Business District in 2023.

Both stores are prominently situated in their respective cities, with the Covington store at the corner of Pike Street and Madison Avenue, and the Bellevue store just off Fairfield Avenue.

Shoppers will discover a variety of home essentials and decor items such as candles, ceramics, vases, planters, wall art, and stylish pieces. The selection also includes stationery and paper products like greeting cards, journals, art prints, and desk accessories. In addition, Coda sells locally sourced clothing and accessories, such as dresses, shirts and jewelry.

The Cottage Boutique — Florence

This highly-rated Florence boutique aims to bring warmth to your space.

Located at 7503 Woodspoint Drive in Florence, it offers home decor, gifts and jewelry made by local designers and artisans. Customers will find a variety of women’s and baby clothing, accessories, and lifestyle gifts like soaps and hand creams.

The Cottage Boutique emphasizes everyday-use items, as the shop was founded by a former homemaker.

Monmouth Street Mercantile — Newport

Newport’s Monmouth Street Mercantile, located at 1001 Monmouth St., leans into the historic charm and character of its namesake street.

The shop features a curated mix of home décor, candles, cards, small gifts and seasonal items. Its rotating inventory makes it a great destination for shoppers seeking unique finds near downtown Newport, especially during the holiday season, when the store leans into its themed decor and giftable accessories.

Purple Paisley Local Artisan Shop — Covington

Located at 715 Scott St., the Purple Paisley Local Artisan Shop is a way for shoppers to support local and regional artisans, offering a place to find thoughtful, handmade gifts.

The boutique offers a rotating selection of artisan products, including home décor, jewelry, artwork, candles, and specialty items, many of which are crafted by Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati artists.

Founded by Loretta Marie Helfrich, the shop was envisioned as a marketplace for emerging artists. Its goal is to widen access to the arts, foster creativity, and develop community networks that link creators with audiences.
