Chef David Willocks, who owns the award-winning Newport restaurant Baker’s Table, just released Baker’s Table Sourdough: Unlocking the Secrets of Artisan Bread at Home, which takes readers behind the curtain to show them the exact method Willocks and his team use to bake their sourdough loaves. The cookbook also features color photographs from Cincinnati photographer Shelby Albertz and illustrations from artist Julia Lipovsky, as well as an accompanying two-hour masterclass video.

“Every week in our dining room, I meet dozens of folks that want to bake their own sourdough at home,” Willocks said in a press release. “But almost everyone is completely confused with where to start. This book is my answer, and it makes the whole process simple and clear — with a 13-step method that anyone can follow.”

The masterclass video was produced by Newport’s Harris Media and demonstrates all of the technical aspects of the book in a cooking class-style format, says Willocks.

“Cookbooks are wonderful, but I can never really get the sense of how to apply the recipes to my own cooking,” he added. “By adding in the element of a video masterclass, I think people will be able to improve their own baking faster than they ever thought possible.”

You can buy Baker’s Table Sourdough: Unlocking the Secrets of Artisan Bread at Home at the restaurant or on its website here for $35.
