In need of a good laugh? Starting tonight, The Garage is bringing back their “Comedy Nite” with renowned comedian Geoff Tate — who has made Comedy Central and The Late Late Show appearances — headlining the event.

“We get five or six comedians from the region to come to town, and then we have a fun comedy show, and last year we sold out all the time, and the other times it was close to selling sold out-sold out means like 60-70 people,” Comedy Nite host Shawn Braley said. “It’s been a fun time. We always have a good headliner that is kind of a nationally touring headlining comedian, and then we just mix those up with other comedians from the region.”

Comedy Nite began at The Garage last year, but one new addition to the space is The Bar that, Braley described as a semi-permanent pop-up Biergarten happening every Friday through Sunday. The Biergarten offers canned drinks for now but is working toward cocktails and drafts.

“The Garage for the last year and a half has been an event rental space that people could use,” Braley said. “It’s a former service station that’s been kind of renovated and restored to be able to be used like that, but it still has the same skeleton, you know, it still looks like an old service station from the outside.”

Starting March 25, The Garage will host its Comedy Nite as a part of Dayton’s “Final Friday.” Final Friday is a once-a-month event that is new to the city and allows different businesses to do various promotions. Unataza Coffee is extending its hours, Hometown Heroes is offering Karaoke and Galactic Fried Chicken is providing beer specials and patio seating.

The first Comedy Nite of the year kicks off tonight at 8 p.m. doors open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased here.
