Campbell County Public Library’s “Cam Cares” donation drive is back through the end of the year.
Cam Cares, formerly known as Drop Your Drawers, aims to ease the burden on schools in their efforts to provide essential resources to students so their education can remain their top priority. Since 2015, all Campbell County Public Library branches have collected unopened undergarment donations from Nov. 1 to Dec. 31, which they then deliver to the family resource centers at local public schools throughout the county.
Family Resource Centers at local elementary, middle and high schools in the county give out more than 100 pairs of undergarments per month. These items include t-shirts, bras, socks, underwear and pants.
Since the donations inception, the library has collected a total of 86,504 undergarments for local schools.
The library’s donation goal this year is at least 6,000 items.
