William Woods is one of four candidates running to be the next Boone County judge/executive, along with Chet Hand (who defeated Republican incumbent Gary Moore in the May primary election), independent Timothy Dean Johnson and Terry Roberts.

Woods and Roberts are both running as write-in candidates, meaning they will not appear on the ballot, but voters can write their names in the “write-in” space before casting their votes.

Woods lives in Florence and is a self-described “Reagan Conservative.” He has worked as an aviation security professional and currently serves as the COO of a luxury transportation provider.

“Our citizens deserve a leader they can respect, a leader who will show them that same respect, without fail,” said Woods. “We have many challenges; roads in need of repair, traffic congestion, a general fund balance which has less funds than the city of Florence – and – we are staring down the barrel of a development nightmare.”

Woods was critical of what he characterized a pro-development ethos among the county’s leadership. Although he admitted that some development was inevitable, “we live in a county where the backroom deals and big money developers reap many rewards.”

Besides that, he pointed to school safety and public safety more generally as a key priority for his campaign. He also pointed to a desire to restructure road funding priorities, “ensuring roads that already exist have priority status when it comes to repairs.” He also called for a “top to bottom overhaul of county spending” to correct for “the waste in our budget.”

“As a resident of this county for more than thirty years, as a Kentucky Colonel and as a human, I am confident that if elected, I will lead Boone County in the right direction,” Woods concluded.
