CINCINNATI, OH – Get ready for a hauntingly good time while sipping tea and eating treats from the Bonbonerie. The Cincinnati Observatory, America’s oldest public observatory, is thrilled to announce a Halloween version of our Afternoon Tea event on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 2:00-4:00 PM. This one-of-a-kind afternoon tea will leave you feeling warm and cozy surrounded by the beautiful fall colors at the observatory.
“We are always looking for fun ways to engage with the community about space and science,” says Program Manager, Nicole Capella. “An Afternoon Tea is a great way to enjoy the observatory for space enthusiasts and novices alike! Join us to learn something new and enjoy a traditional Afternoon Tea service with food and tea from the Bonbonerie, all in the company of family and friends.”
The Cincinnati Observatory’s long history has included visits from people all over the country and all over the world. Many guests were once welcomed with an Afternoon Tea at the homes of Cincinnati Observatory Directors. Join us as we invite you into our observatory and show some Victorian hospitality! Beyond the tea, attendees can:
See our 181 year old refracting telescope
Safely view the Sun (weather permitting) through a telescope
Enjoy a walk along our Planet Walk
Learn about historic visits to the observatory, Victorian fashion and customs, and more from our Museum staff!
The event will run from 2:00-4:00PM on Saturday, October 24. Tickets are $60 and include tea, light bites, a presentation about Victorian mourning, and viewing through the telescope (weather permitting). Advanced registration is required.
