The fall season draws our attention to community in a number of ways. Back-to-school energy, exciting local events and spending time outdoors as the season changes—these activities help us stay rooted in our surroundings and the people who are part of them. Thanksgiving allows us to reflect on our lives with gratitude, and before we know it, the holidays arrive. It is as if we spend fall engaging so much in our own community it inspires us to give back to our neighbors.
At Meals on Wheels of Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky, we deliver services that promote seniors’ independence and well-being. Meal deliveries and congregate meals provide vital nutrition, personal connection and essential protection for older Northern Kentuckians in Boone, Kenton, Campbell, Carroll, Pendleton, Grant, Gallatin and Owen counties. It is our unique privilege to support them every day. They are, after all, the ones who cultivated the community we all call home.
You, our fellow community members, play a pivotal role in helping our older neighbors age well all year long. As the fall season progresses, we invite you to join us on our mission and help us support the seniors we serve at Meals on Wheels.

Much More Than a Gift Day: Wednesday, Oct. 28
Save the date for our annual day of giving, Much More Than a Gift Day. Thanks to a generous group of sponsors, all donations made to Meals on Wheels will be matched up to $30,000. No gift is too small because every single one helps us cover operations for essential services.
Here is the impact you can help us make:
- $5 matches the cost of one birthday bag we deliver to seniors
- $15 matches the cost of three weekly snack boxes, which accompany seniors’ meal deliveries
- $25 matches the cost of 12 pounds of dog food in our pet support program
- $100 matches the cost of one full tank of gas for a home-delivered meals van
Plus, with the support of our match donors, your gift will go twice as far!
Much More Than a Gift Day takes place online, and you can also call our advancement team to make a gift over the phone. Contact Justin Beale, Meals on Wheels Chief Advancement Officer, at 513-244-5480.

Bust-a-Crust Thanksgiving Pie Sale: Order by Friday, Nov. 6
Our annual Bust-a-Crust Thanksgiving pie sale, presented by Sara Lee Frozen Bakery, celebrates a sweet holiday tradition while supporting the Meals on Wheels’ mission. Order from a delicious selection of seasonal pie flavors including apple, pecan and pumpkin. Each 10-inch frozen pie is $15, requires no baking and serves six to eight people—perfect to bring as a Thanksgiving dessert.
If pie is not your preferred treat and you still want to participate in this feel-good fundraiser, you can “pie” it forward to a senior! Each of our home-delivered meals clients will enjoy pie, and our team will deliver pies to our senior center partners during the week of Thanksgiving.
All proceeds from pie orders and gifts directly benefit Meals on Wheels. Place your order by Friday, Nov. 6, and we will have it ready for you to pick up between Nov. 23 and 25.
