Week 9 is here!
This year at LINK nky, we decided to add some fun to our football coverage. We’re going to do a weekly picks contest with the three of the sports writers (Evan Dennison, Ray Schaefer and Josh Kalb) we have here and throw in a little twist…a guest picker each week. The guest picker will most likely be someone you recognize as a member of our community, whether it be someone who is on the sidelines with us, sports TV personalities, former coaches or players or someone who may not even be entrenched in the sports scene, but still invested in our communities to some capacity.
With a Thursday game on the docket, we’re releasing the picks a day early.
Week 8 was met with mixed results. Josh and Kevin Gray both went 8-2, Evan at 6-4 and Ray at 5-5. Josh’s solid week puts him two games up on the season lead while the guest pickers combined gained some ground, trailing Evan by two and Josh by four. Ray sits 10 games out of the top spot, needing a miracle with three weeks left.
This week’s guest picker: Tony Fields
Tony is the example of what a passionate Northern Kentucky sports fan is. He’s a Lloyd Memorial grad who currently coaches the Villa Madonna girls basketball and softball teams.
If you are a member of the NKY High School Sports Facebook groups, you can thank Tony for that. He’s the founder of the groups, which provides valuable information on all sports NKY. He has two children (Peyton and Parker) who coach with Tony at Villa.
