Pamela Spoor said on parkhillsvoter.com that she is seeking reelection to Park Hills City Council to continue focusing on the city’s financial health while maintaining infrastructure, public safety and parks.

Spoor is a longtime Park Hills resident who raised five children in the city. Before retiring, she worked as a municipal securities lawyer and public finance adviser. She has also volunteered for more than 25 years to improve Trolley Park.

Spoor faces Marty Boyer, Joe Brandner, Lee Burkett, Greg Claypole, Joe Daugherty, Steve Elkins, Dan Lutz, Carl Trinkle and Dan Warner in the Nov. 3 general election.

“My skills in finance and law are useful in evaluating issues facing the city,” Spoor said on the campaign website. “I like to listen, research, and think hard about a matter before making a decision.”

Spoor was first elected to council in 2010, when she said Park Hills was experiencing financial difficulties. She pointed to rebuilding the city’s reserves, reducing real estate and business taxes and eliminating the city sticker fee among actions taken during her time on council.

Spoor also cited expanded public access to city financial records, audits, meeting minutes and council meeting videos.

If reelected, Spoor said maintaining the city’s financial position while limiting residents’ tax burden would remain a priority. She also wants to maintain roads, support police and fire departments and expand walkability and historic streetlights.

Other priorities include preserving Park Hills’ natural and historic character, pursuing a park south of Dixie Highway and attracting additional businesses, particularly a restaurant, along Dixie Highway.

Spoor also wants the city to commemorate its centennial in 2027 with special events.
