Nick Sears said he is running for Alexandria City Council because the community is growing and he wants to ensure that growth is managed while preserving the city’s small-town character.
Sears said residents are seeing increased traffic and strain on infrastructure, which he believes the city must address as it plans for the future.
Sears faces Tom Baldridge, Patrick Blair, Laura Fincher, Stacey Graus, Michael McGrath, and Christopher Vaught-Hall in the Nov. 3 general election.
“I’m motivated by the opportunity to serve my neighbors and make practical decisions that improve everyday life in our community,” Sears said. “In a city like Alexandria, local government has a direct impact—from road safety to projects that add value to our community.”
If elected, Sears said his first priority would be ensuring Alexandria’s growth is accompanied by investments in infrastructure, traffic safety and quality-of-life improvements.
Sears said he would also like to explore community-focused projects, including a community garden and additional green spaces. He said those projects could strengthen connections among neighborhoods while helping preserve Alexandria’s small-town character.
Sears also said he looks forward to the opportunity to work with Alexandria’s Parks and Recreation team on projects that benefit the community.
