Neighbors from around Latonia came out Sunday to plant flowers and other greenery on Summit Drive.

Located on the edge of the Licking River opposite Frederick’s Landing, the street sports a grassy island down the center of the road. Some of the street’s residents, Rob Fischer and his daughter Mary Fischer, planted some flowers in the island this spring, and “they took off,” Rob Fischer said.
As a result, people around the neighborhood thought it would be a good idea to dedicate a day to replanting much of the island, the greenery of which had begun to decline. Fischer compared it to giving the street a “facelift.”
