The new Kenton County Park, located on the site of former Fox Run Park and Golf Course, will close Monday, Sept. 14, for a construction project slated to last two years, according to an announcement from the county.

The 225-acre park will serve as an expanded outdoor recreation area, civic hub and trail network. The county hopes to have the work completed and reopen the park sometime in the summer of 2028.

“To protect the safety of the public and construction crews, the park will be fully closed for the duration of construction,” reads the announcement. “The project will involve large-scale equipment, heavy machinery and active work zones throughout the property, making full closure necessary to safely complete the work.”

The project dates back to at least 2022, when Cincinnati-based design firm Human Nature first recommended the idea of a new park master plan to the Kenton County Fiscal Court.

Once complete, the park will include an enlarged fishing pond, a dog park, fitness areas, expanded playgrounds, biking areas, a ropes course, other tree-top activities, and an extensive trail network, among other amenities. Read the county’s announcement to learn more.
