Adam Perkins is a candidate for the Lakeside Park City Council, which has six seats. There are eight candidates vying for the seats in November.
Perkins is the owner of an audio/visual contracting business out of Southgate. He lives with his family on Arcadia Avenue, where they have lived since 1998.
“As a self-employed business owner, I understand how to run a company, build consensus and manage expectations,” Perkins said.
He is not currently on the council, and when asked why he wanted to run now, he said, “It’s my turn to volunteer. If I’ve learned anything as I’ve matured, [it] is that if you want to make a difference, you have to be willing to step up and put yourself out there.”
To that end, he said, “I believe in community members taking their turn in helping run the city and providing new ideas to make Lakeside Park a better place to live and a better place to invest in housing.”
Perkins said his first priority if elected would be to spend time figuring out how government worked. But he also talked about his long-term goals, as well.
“I want to better understand how the city is run, how the money is spent and what future initiatives we should be taking to ensure Lakeside Park remains a top notch place to call home,” Perkins said.
