Every year, more than one in five people experience a mental illness, according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Covington-based consulting company TiER1 Performance is committed to reducing the stigma surrounding mental illness and encouraging conversations about mental health in the community. One way it honors this commitment is by hosting The Scurry, a unique annual fundraiser that benefits local organizations that provide mental health services.
The Scurry is an Amazing Race-style event, hosted on Friday, September 25. For 15 years, The Scurry has brought people together to support mental health through teamwork, laughter, and a little friendly competition. With race stops at Hotel Covington, Smoke Justis, Dewey’s Pizza, Dice on Draft, and more, teams will spend three hours solving clues, taking on challenges, and competing for bragging rights.
Participating teams lean into the fun by creating unique costumes and team names. From Mario Kart to Ninja Turtles to matching High Noon t-shirts and tutus, participants embrace the fun while supporting a good cause.
Several organizations are joining the fun this year, with Scurry teams represented from Fischer Homes, STEP CG, Dean Houston, Thompson Hine, Link NKY, and Perfetti Van Melle, to name a few. The participating team that raises the most donations will be recognized at the after party. If you know a team participating and would like to donate to help them win, visit

The event concludes with an awards ceremony, raffle drawing, and celebration at Covington Yard at 4 pm. Community members do not need to participate in the team competition to attend the after party—all are invited to attend and celebrate mental health initiatives in the region!
Many past organizations are repeat supporters with participants raving about their experiences.
“It was a great team bonding experience with my coworkers, so the entire Scurry will be memorable for me. I am a remote technician, so visiting Kentucky and completing the challenges with people who I work with everyday but only see once a year was amazing.” -2025 Scurry Participant
“It’s a win-win for us, getting to support a fantastic cause, getting our company’s name out there, and then individually getting out on a workday and having fun with colleagues.” -2024 Scurry Participant
Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit Lindner Center of Hope, OneQuest Health, and the Adapt for Life and Zero Suicide programs at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. These organizations offer community members of all ages a wide range of mental health support, including how to navigate mental illness, addiction, abuse, trauma, and suicidal behavior.
TiER1 invites the entire community to join in this incredible partnership of organizations and individuals. Since its launch in 2010, The Scurry has raised more than $500,000 for local community efforts. Whether you participate in the team competition, sponsor the event, attend the after party, or donate to the cause, every form of support is appreciated and makes an impact.
