Jantzen Wittrock is a candidate for the Independence City Council. There are eight candidates running for a spot on the six-seat council.

Wittrock owns a landscaping business and is a business student at NKU. He is among the younger candidates running for office in the region, and, as such, said he wanted “to bring a new perspective to City Council while ensuring that the Independence residents know and love remains a place families are proud to call home.”

“Every generation experiences challenges differently,” Wittrock said, “and I hope to bring a fresh voice to the table while learning from those who have helped shape Independence into the community it is today.”

Like other city council candidates, Wittrock pointed to controlled, thoughtful growth as a key campaign priority, especially given the increased development the city has seen over the past several years.

Wittrock said the city was “at an important crossroads.”

“My focus will be on responsible growth and ensuring that development aligns with the interests of our community,” Wittrock said. “Growth should enhance our city—not diminish the quality of life, sense of community and character that make Independence special.”

“The decisions our city makes today will shape what Independence looks like for decades, and I believe it is important that my generation has a voice in those conversations,” Wittrock also said.
