Kenton County has declared a state of emergency following the severe weather the region experienced earlier this week.
The storms brought high winds and property damage. Hundreds of people are still without power throughout the region, as of Friday afternoon, according to Duke Energy’s outage map.

The declaration allows the county to access federal emergency relief funding.
“County officials and emergency response teams continue to assess the damage and work with local, state and federal partners as recovery efforts move forward,” according to the county’s announcement.
