Samuel Keith is one of nine candidates running for Lakeside Park’s City Council. The council has six seats.

Keith has a background in public safety: He’s currently a firefighter with the Independence Fire District and serves as a firefighter and medic on a part-time basis in Fort Mitchell.

“I moved here as a 19-year-old new homeowner,” Keith said of the city he’s lived in for two years. “It was a lot to handle in the beginning, but my neighbors and community helped me work out the kinks. Now it is time for me to give back. My goal is to help members of this community use their voice on pressing issues within the community.”

If elected, he said, one of his campaign priorities would be to improve lines of communication with the Kentucky Transportation Department, District 6, which administers the state roads in the region.

“As every Lakeside Park resident knows, our major collector and arterial roads are owned and maintained by the state,” Keith said. “This means we are blessed with the service from KYTC of maintaining them, but sometimes input is not collected by local residents regarding changes on these roads.”

Additionally, he said he would like to generally expand public safety services in the city.
