The Cities of Bellevue and Dayton are inviting residents, businesses and visitors to participate in several Memorial Day activities designed to honor veterans, celebrate community pride and support local programs.
This year’s events include a patriotic decorating contest, the inaugural Honor Roll 5K benefiting local veteran programs and the annual Bellevue-Dayton Memorial Day Parade.
Patriotic Decorating Contest
Residents and businesses are encouraged to showcase their patriotic pride by decorating their homes or storefronts in red, white and blue. Entries must be submitted by midnight on May 17. Participating properties will be added to a public Google map for community viewing. Photos can be submitted by visiting daytonky.com/decorating-contest.
Honor Roll 5K
The inaugural Honor Roll 5K will take place on Monday, May 25 at 8:15 a.m. at Bellevue Beach Park. Proceeds from the race will support local veteran programs and food pantry. Runners and walkers are invited to wear festive red, white and blue attire. Medals will be awarded to the first 100 finishers. Registration is $20 for adults and $15 for students ages 18 and younger.
Memorial Day Parade
The Bellevue Dayton Memorial Day Parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 25. The parade starts at the Veterans Monument, 709 Sixth Ave. in Dayton, and concludes at the Bellevue Veterans Club. Community groups and organizations interested in participating in the parade can complete an application at daytonky.com/memorial-parade.
