After two seasons at post of the Holmes girls basketball team, Zuri Hill has resigned.

She took over a young team in 2024 with six of the nine players on the roster freshman or sophomores as they worked their way up to playing varsity basketball for the 2025-26 season. They won nine games this past year and posted a 9-13 record, a season after opting out of varsity play with so much youth on the roster.

This past year’s team had just one senior on the roster mixed in with two juniors, a sophomore, seven freshman and eight middle schoolers. They were led by senior Jayda Hill’s 11.3 points per game while eighth graders Brooklyn Brown and Aubrey Wilson put up 7.7 and 6.7 points per game, respectively. Freshman Lunden Scott posted 6.8 points per game and junior Carlie Riley with 5.2 points per game.

Hill previously coached the seventh grade girls basketball team at Holmes Middle School. She began her high school basketball career at Holmes and played for the Bulldogs as a sophomore. She concluded her career at Boone County where she played alongside area great Sydney Moss for legendary coach Nell Fookes. Hill was a Northern Kentucky Girls Basketball Coaches Association East-West senior all-star for Boone County in 2012. Hill earned all-9th Region and all-33rd District recognition at Boone County.

Hill, from Covington, finished her college basketball career at Lincoln University. She began her college career at Volunteer State Community College, earning first team all-conference honors. She then played at St. Louis Community College where she earned first team all-region and all-conference recognition.

Hill replaced Tracy Pope, who parted ways with the program after two seasons.

The coach opening has been posted to the Covington Independent Schools website.
