Candidate for: Kenton County Commissioner District 2;
Party: Democrat;
Status: Challenger;
Benjamin Bach is the Democratic candidate for Kenton County Commissioner in District 2, the county’s largest district, which covers much of the southern half of the county (note: Although commissioners’ seats are divided into districts, they are elected at-large, meaning everyone in the county can vote for them).
Since he is the only Democratic candidate in the race, he will not take part in May’s primary but instead will face off against whoever wins the Republican primary, either Sherry Goodridge or Jeff Niceley.
This will be the first time Bach has run for elected office. Bach is from the south county and has had various jobs in multiple sectors throughout his career. He currently works in IT as a cloud engineer and lives with his wife and kids in Independence.

Bach said he’s made it a point to keep up with local politics in the past, but he decided to run after seeing how the county handled the rollout of its Site Readiness Initiative in the south county.
“The pronounced tone and lack of discussion and listening really was emphatic,” said Bach.

Other issues he wanted to address were improving the water and pipe infrastructure, although he was aware that the fiscal court didn’t have direct control over that.
He also though the county could handle housing in a “more systematic way.” Ditto for transportation. Finally, he expressed concern about the future of the Kenton County Park project, fearing it would turn into “a soft amusement park with lights and a whole bunch of activity,” rather than being maintained as a more natural space.
