COVINGTON, KY — The Rt. Rev. Mark Van Koevering, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Lexington, has designated February 11 as a Day of Prayer for Our Nation, inviting people across Northern Kentucky to join in prayer, reflection, and hope at Trinity Episcopal Church, 326 Madison Ave., Covington.

In a pastoral letter to the diocese, Bishop Van Koevering emphasized the power of prayer to heal divisions, lift spirits, and equip believers “to bring the light of Christ’s hope to all in need.” Quoting the apostle Paul’s reminder that “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7), the bishop called the faithful to unite in prayer for the healing and well-being of the nation.

Observances at Trinity include:
• 8 a.m. — Morning Prayer
• 12:10 p.m. — Noonday Prayers with Meditation
• 6 p.m. — Holy Eucharist with special music and guest preacher, the Ven. Jeffrey Queen
(Livestream available)
The Northern Kentucky observance is part of a diocesan-wide Day of Prayer, which also includes a diocesan evening prayer service at Christ Church Cathedral in Lexington at 7 p.m., featuring music, readings, poetry, and prayers. The cathedral service will be livestreamed for those who wish to participate remotely.

“We recognize that many in our communities may feel helpless, lost, or afraid in the face of uncertainty,” said Bishop Van Koevering. “Yet, as followers of Christ, we are called to bring his light into the world — beginning with prayer, and then through action rooted in love.”

All are welcome to attend — clergy, lay leaders, people of faith, neighbors, and community members — for this shared day of prayer and hope.
