The Thomas More women’s basketball team received their championship rings at halftime of the Saints’ football game on Saturday, a few months after winning the Women’s NCAA Division III Basketball National Championship in March.
The Saints went undefeated (33-0), beating previously undefeated George Fox University, 83-63 in the title game, to give Thomas More its first ever basketball national championship.
Junior guard/forward Sydney Moss was named Women’s DIII Player of the Year for the second consecutive season in a spectacular year where she set an NCAA record with 63 points against Waynesburg in February.
The rings were distributed by Head Coach Jeff Hans who recorded his 100th victory in the championship season.
The rings have a blue gem stone in the middle with the Thomas More logo encrusted in the gem. It is surrounded by smaller diamonds and have the words “National Champions” engraved on the sterling silver rings.
