The McDonald’s on Declaration Drive in Independence was honored on Monday for raising nearly $40,000 for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Cincinnati last year.

The Ronald McDonald House is known for its charitable efforts in aiding children with critical illnesses, and the Cincinnati branch is one of the largest in the nation.

The restaurant raised $39,781 for the Ronald McDonald House in 2024, which made it the highest-earning restaurant in the region.

Many of the donations came from customers through the restaurant’s Round Up program, which allows customers to round up the totals of their orders and donate the difference.

A special ceremony was held at the restaurant on Monday, where Mayor Chris Reinersman presented Owner & Operator Grant Groen with a city proclamation, declaring Feb. 10 as Grant Groen Day.

“We are beyond thrilled to have raised such a significant amount for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Cincinnati,” Groen said in a press release. “This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work and generosity of our incredible team and our loyal customers. It’s an honor to give back to the community in such a meaningful way and to help families when they need it most.”
