Covington Police Department has retired one of its K9 Officers, Duke, after four years of service.

The department officially retired Duke on Thursday, Jan. 16, according to a social media announcement from the department. Duke was the partner of Covington Police Specialist Mike Lusardi.

“Duke will be going to live with a new family in Illinois where we expect he’ll be spoiled rotten,” the announcement reads.

Duke will be replaced by current K9 trainee Orrock, whom Lusardi is in the process of training in apprehension, narcotics detection, tracking and searches.
