Covington has a brand-new butcher and deli.
Rekas Butchery and Delicatessen, owned by Shelbi Nation and her wife, Ashley, opened its doors at 401 Scott St. on Wednesday.
The shop, a sister to their Wyoming Meat Market, a butcher in Wyoming, Ohio, is named after Shelbi’s great-grandmother and is a tribute to her as “it has been her lifelong dream since she was a little girl,” per a post on Instagram.

The couple are both of Italian heritage, so they also decided to include imported Italian goods, according to the post.
“Rekas is a family-owned business that is deeply rooted in our history and pays homage to our past,” reads the post. “We aim to express our gratitude to our ancestors through incredible, sustainable food that reflects the recipes and traditions of our families.”
The deli is currently offering a small menu of sandwiches along with housemade salads and more. On the butcher side, Rekas has prime ribeyes, filets, Wagyu brisket, local pork and tons of marinated meat options.
