Why are there fewer races in Boone County than in Kenton and Campbell?

Out of the 222 candidates running in 30 races across our three-county region, only 27 of those candidates are running in five races in Boone County.

Most of Boone County is unincorporated, meaning it is governed only by county officials, as opposed to having additional city government.

There are also only three cities and two school districts.

So those living and voting in Boone have a lot less research to do before they go to the polls in November.

We invest in election coverage. Will you consider investing in us?

Election coverage in Northern Kentucky is incredibly expensive. With more than 200 candidates in 30 contested races this year, we’ve spent nearly $250,000 covering every single race, conducting video candidate forums, holding Community Conversations, and printing both a primary and general election voter guide. We invest this money in election coverage because we believe it is vitally important to inform our readers about local elections before they go vote.

Now that we’ve made this investment in election coverage, would you consider making an investment in LINK to help us continue to do our work in NKY? Every tax-deductible dollar donated goes directly to public-interest reporting, and every dollar helps.
