Former Bellevue city council member William “Bill” Donnermeyer turns 100 on Sept. 19, 2024. In his honor, the city of Bellevue declared that day as “Bill Donnermeyer Day.”
Donnermeyer served in both WWII and Korea. He spent 35 years as a member of the Pipefitters Union Local 392, and began his public service career on the Bellevue city council. In 1969 he was elected to the Kentucky House of Representatives where he represented the 68th District for 25 years.
Mayor Charlie Cleves read a proclamation officially creating the day during the city’s council meeting on Sept. 11.
Reading from the proclamation, the mayor said, “Bill’s remarkable journey continues to inspire all who know his story. Happy 100th birthday, Bill Donnermeyer. Your enduring legacy and contributions remain a guiding light for future generations.”
