Sister Jean Marie Hoffman, an instrumental figure in developing the Diocesan Catholic Children’s Home Center for Children and Families, received the Pioneer Award from the Kenton County Fiscal Court on Tuesday night.
The Pioneer Award honors Kenton County residents who have a record of demonstrating outstanding service within the community.
The Diocesan Catholic Children’s Home Center for Children and Families, located in Fort Mitchell, provides foster care, adoption and family support services for people throughout the region.
During the fiscal court meeting, a video featuring Denise Govan, current CEO and executive director of the DCCH Center for Children and Families, was played. Govan spoke about Hoffman’s positive impact on children throughout the community.
“Sister Jean Marie worked side by side with children for over 35 years, making sure that they had a good reset and provided an opportunity to really serve as a surrogate parent for children in Northern Kentucky at Diocesan Catholic Children’s Home,” said Govan.
Commissioner Joe Nienaber said Hoffman has done “a remarkable job” in her career.
“I can’t imagine doing the work that she’s done for as long as she has, she’s remarkable, and she deserves every bit of this and more,” commissioner Joe Nienaber said.
Hoffman currently serves as the Director Emeritus for the DCCH Center for Children and Families.
