June 10, 2024 – Boone County Distilling Company and the Boone County Sheriff’s Auxiliary partnered to create a limited-edition, commemorative Founder’s Reserve Bourbon, celebrating the 225th anniversary of the founding of the Boone County Sheriff’s Office. This one-of-a-kind release will be unveiled at a private release party at the Boone County Distillery today.
This joint project is five months in the making, with deputies from the Boone County Sheriff’s Office handpicking barrels specific for this release. The commemorative label celebrates the tenacity and dedication of the Sheriff’s Office of the past 225 years and proceeds from the sale of this release benefit the Boone County Sheriff’s Auxiliary – a group comprised of citizen volunteers with the objective of supporting the men and women of the Boone County Sheriff’s Office and our Boone County Community.
Through a court order on June 17, 1799, James Garrard, Esq., the then-Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, appointed John Cave Jr., Esq., to be the Sheriff of Boone County. This Commission of Peace took place in the house of William Cave, Esq., and was declared after Cave Jr. took several oaths required by law and secured his promise to faithfully execute the office with a $3,000 penalty.

From its humble beginnings 225 years ago, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office today employs over 182 sworn deputies and is the largest full-service Sheriff’s Office in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
“Boone County is proud to support the Boone County Sheriff Office in celebrating this milestone. Our County’s first responders are an integral part in our community – providing outstanding service day in and day out to all who pass through Boone County. Congratulations to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office!”, Josh Quinn, Boone County Distillery cofounder

These one-of-a-kind, commemorative 225th Anniversary Founder’s Reserve Bourbon is offered in 750 mL bottles. Proof varies, as determined by the barrel selected for each bottle, and the remaining few bottles left for purchase will be available at the Boone County Distillery.
