Fort Wright appointed John S. Brooking as their new city attorney. Former city attorney Timothy Theissen retired in May, and Brooking attended his first city council meeting in this role on June 5.

Brooking is a partner at Brooking & Halloran, a law firm based in Fort Wright that represents both individuals and businesses. He is licensed to practice law in Kentucky, Ohio and the federal district courts in eastern and western Kentucky.

“I’ve been a Northern Kentucky boy pretty much all my life,” Brooking said at the June council meeting.

The new city attorney graduated from Beechwood High School and received his law degree from Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University.

Over the years, he has been involved in the Northern Kentucky community in various capacities. Currently, Brooking serves as the president of the Vent Haven Museum, a ventriloquy museum in Fort Mitchell. He also serves as the president of the Beechwood Education Foundation. He formerly served with the Northern Kentucky Port Authority, the Northern Kentucky Bar Association and the Kenton County Republican Party.

Brooking has lived in Fort Wright for the last 18 years with his family and said he looks forward to joining the team at city hall.

“It is a thrill and an honor for me to be added to this team that I have appreciated from a distance for a long time,” Brooking said. “Thank you for bringing me in and I look forward to contributing in any way that I possibly can for as long as you’ll have me.”Â
