SparkLight Creative Group, a Black-owned creative consulting agency in Covington, recently released its Northern Kentucky Black Business Report for 2023.

Made in collaboration with the Covington Business Council, the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, the Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission and Republic Bank; the report surveyed 20 Black-owned businesses in the region “to gain a better understanding of their needs since the racial reawakening that began in the United States in 2020,” said SparkLight in a recent press release.

The report summarizes the profiles of the numbers of the Black-owned businesses in the region and concludes by stating that “while increasing Black business ownership would certainly have a positive economic impact on Black households and communities, renewed fiscal support from federal, state and local governments is needed to mitigate the racial wealth gap.”
