Judi Gerding, founder of the Point/Arc, a nonprofit organization based out of Covington, will deliver the first pitch at a Cincinnati Reds game.

The event is set for Sunday, Aug. 6 at 1:40 p.m., coinciding with Gerding’s 83rd birthday.

“It’s not my first go-around as a pitcher,” Gerding said in a press release from the Point/Arc. “I threw-out the first-pitch years ago, so I have confidence.”

Gerding was among the founders of the Point/Arc organization when the institution was founded in 1972. Gerding got involved to help her son, Steve Gerding, who has Rubinstein-Taybu Syndrome, a rare genetic disability.

The organization helps local people with developmental and intellectual disabilities. However, today the group “has evolved into a holistic agency with a wide range of around-the-clock programs,” the press release said.
