Kenton County is officially honoring members of its Public Works Department over the next week.

At last week’s fiscal court meeting, Kenton County Judge/Executive Kris Knochelmann read a proclamation designating the week of May 19 through 25 as Public Works Week in Kenton County.

Tyler Hill, president of the American Public Works Association Northern Kentucky, told the fiscal court that public works employees were appreciative of the proclamation.

“Public Works is really the untalked about lifeblood of emergency services and really, the silent army that keeps the county running smoothly — keeps cities running smoothly,” Hill said. “At the end of the day, we are a vital part of everybody’s day-to-day lives and we are an integral part of everything that goes on.”
